Elements Determining the Cost of Your SLC Concrete Repair Needs

Knowing how much you’re likely to pay for a given project on any part of your property is naturally very important, and those looking into concrete repair services are no exception. Whether you’re having your concrete lifted, leveled or some combination therein, you want to know what this process will likely cost you — and there are a few factors that help determine this.

At Lift-Up Concrete Lifting, LLC, we’re here to offer the best residential, commercial and even municipal concrete lifting and leveling services to clients in Salt Lake City and other parts of Utah. When it comes to how much you’ll be paying for any job here, which elements are most important for making this determination? Here’s a full rundown.

Should You Repair or Replace?

Firstly, when evaluating your repair needs, our experts will need to discern whether a complete replacement is actually necessary — or if targeted repairs can suffice. In some cases, only portions of your concrete may need to be replaced while others can be lifted/leveled as needed.

The former will obviously cost more than the latter, but that’s not the only cost-related consideration here. For instance, if the damage is so extensive that repairs will likely need to be repeated over and over, it may make more financial sense to just replace the concrete in question.

However, due to the high costs of concrete replacement — which include demolition, debris removal, pouring, curing and more — we’ll always do everything we can to make targeted repairs that will last for years to come.

Can You DIY It?

With cost savings in mind, some property owners may be wondering if they can simply take on concrete repairs themselves. After all, there are plenty of DIY videos and articles out there detailing how to do this work.

In most cases, we would not recommend going the DIY route for many reasons. For one thing, without the right tools and equipment, you likely won’t be able to achieve the same results as our professionals. Furthermore, if you make any mistakes during the repair process, it could end up costing you more to fix those errors than it would have to just hire us in the first place!

Rather, going with pros offers you several benefits, including those that specifically speak to cost areas:

  • Experience and knowledge: We have years of experience dealing with concrete repair needs of all shapes and sizes. In doing so, we’ve also gained invaluable knowledge that helps us approach every job in the most efficient way possible.
  • The right tools for the job: Unlike most homeowners, we have access to heavy-duty equipment that’s needed to carry out concrete repairs correctly. Not only does this get the job done right, but it also helps us do it in a timely fashion.
  • Materials knowledge: Another key benefit our team offers is an in-depth understanding of the materials used in concrete repairs. This allows us to make recommendations on everything from the type of concrete mix to be used to any additives that could further improve results.

All of these factors (and more) play into our ability to provide cost-effective services that meet or exceed your expectations.

Size and Extent of the Damage

Once you’ve settled on quality professionals to carry out your concrete repairs, the next cost-related consideration is the size and extent of the damage. Obviously, a small repair job is going to cost less than a major one, but there are other things to keep in mind here as well.

For example, if the damage is located in a hard-to-reach spot or one that’s otherwise difficult to work on, that could end up driving up costs. Additionally, if the repair job is complex in nature — such as when multiple concrete slabs need to be lifted/leveled — that will likely also increase the overall price tag.

Truck Access

It may not seem like it, but the location of your concrete damage can also impact repair costs in a big way. In particular, we need to be able to get our trucks as close to the work site as possible.

If your concrete is located at the end of a long driveway or down a narrow street, that’s going to make it more difficult — and therefore more expensive — to carry out repairs.

However, if we have good truck access, that helps keep costs down.

Timing and Availability

It’s not usually as large a factor as some of the others we’ve gone over here, but timing can also play a role in concrete repair costs.

For example, if you need repairs done during the busy season (typically spring and summer), that could end up costing you a bit more. In contrast, if you’re able to wait until things slow down, you may be able to get a better price.

The same goes for availability. If you need repairs done right away and we have an open spot in our schedule, that’s great. However, if you’re more flexible on timing and can wait a week or two, that could also save you some money.

At Lift-Up Concrete Lifting, we’ll always provide you with a estimate for your concrete repair needs upfront. This way, you’ll know exactly what the work will cost and can make an informed decision on whether or not to proceed.
